Bidding $$$

So here's the quick run down. My boss and I have been butting heads financially lately with projects. He's new to the video industry and doesn't know a lot about logical preproduction, planning, and bidding. I know enough about preproduction and planning that things run smooth, when I'm in charge, but bidding clients is still foreign to me.

What is your method for bidding clients? I hate to be vague but I think I need to be here. I want to develop a system that will accurately cover all the facts and variables for each project we are hired to do.

I'll throw out an example project:

A 60 second commercial that is designed to mimic a movie trailer. 3 locations, 10 or so actors, a narrator, minimal graphic design and visual effects.

Heres my formula for bidding:
My hourly rate X how long I think it'll take= the bid.
If you are experienced enough to know how long it otta take, you should make the bids. If you are not, somone else should.
Always leave room for revisions. If you know you can shoot it and edit in in a week, then you know it could easily take two weeks with a client's input. That aint free so make room for it up front.
