Curious if anyone else is addicted to battlefield bad company 2 like me. My user name is im_sorry_guys (ps3) if anyone wants to play sometime.

I brought BC2 but have only played it for 10min, I'm a big COD fan. I should give BC2 more of a chance I guess, I like how the maps are supposed to be heaps bigger than COD but what puts me off it is the way your player moves, it's like he's had to much to drink.

I never know about these games. Online reviews are almost always 99% about multiplayer server connection issues and frustrations about hackers ruining online play. Can never, ever get a sense if the single-player campaign is any good, which I'm far more concerned with.

Still, if the BC2 single-player is worth it, I might consider it. Not even going to touch MW2 or Black Ops until the price drops, which should have been a while ago for MW2 . . . but it hasn't.

@David, if you're mostly interested in single player, I'd recommend either MW2 or Medal of Honor. MW2 has an epic storyline with an insanely awesome ending, and MOH has one of the most realistic, true-to-life single player campaigns I've experienced (the multiplayer kinda sucks, but single player is great). MOH is kind of short, though. Black Ops' single player campaign was unoriginal, predictable and quite boring, really.

@Hunter, I played BC2 constantly in the "intermission" between MW2 and Black Ops. I personally greatly prefer the COD franchise, but BC2 has some really great aspects - particularly its diversity. Where COD is all about running around and shooting people, BC2 is tactical, it's expansive, and it's got a very nice vehicle system. Plus the environmental destructibility of the Frostbite server used on both BC2 and MOH (to a much lesser extent) is amazing.

bfbc2 is in my mind, one of the best and most thoroughly designed multiplayer games in a long time. The level of immersion is ridiculous, the sound engine they created is absolutely absurd. Do some reading on it and find the presentation they did on it if you can. There was almost no mixing done in house, it's all calculated based on several things live as you play, and there is some very very neat algorithms going on (live pre-culling, etc). it sounds, very much literally, like real life. The reverb changes of your gun and your rounds hitting the floor as you go from outdoors to a house with concrete walls, concussive blasts, etc. I could go on drooling over it but I won't. Also, the dynamic-ness (dynamicism?) of the worlds are just crazy, absolutely everything, including all walls of houses, trees, everything is destructible and movable with enough force. In big 32 player games it borders on sensory overload 95% of the time

This is all of course playing on a pc setup with a decent 1920x1200 monitor and sound running through a decent pair of monitors, the level of immersion all depends on your setup I guess. But here, the level of detail in immersion between mw2 and this is just ridiculous. when I open up mw2 I feel like I'm shooting a pea-shooter. my name is Fohdeesha (naturally) on pc if anyone wants to add me and play! Also this game is a steal, I think they're charging like 17 bucks for it on steam? No reason not to try it. I gave up on big multiplayer fps's a long time ago but this was just an awesome surprise, I can't stop playing!

I stopped playing video games out of lack of interest about 5 years ago. Then last winter I discovered Battlefield 1943 on the ps3 and loved it, then moved on to BFBC2 and loved it even more (not to mention a stint with Red Dead Redemption).

Call of duty is fun too but after getting into battlefield, I just love the vehicles and huge maps (there is also a flame thrower in the Vietnam expansion!). BTW- they are selling the "ultimate edition" now for ps3 for $40- which comes with free VIP mappack ($15) and free Battlefield 1943 and onslaught mode ($15).

Has any Battlefield franchise game ever had an actual single player campaign? I only ever played the original and the demos for BF2 and 2142, but all I remember is bot matches on the MP maps. Which was admittedly fun, at least in 1942, but not a an experience on par with Medal of Honor or Call of Duty.

I broke my side table in half while raging because my team sucked last night... I need to play a little less of BFBC2, hahaha.

However, I play on PC.

The game is great, the gameplay is the pinnacle of the BF series. A shame that the size of the battles is not the same as old BFs (the enormous maps of BF2 and the vertical scale of BF2142), however, if DICE keep on this track BF3 is gonna be huge.

Not sure what you mean. BC2 has a pretty long single player campaign. I got pretty far in and then a friend of mine accidentally erased my save file. I never bothered to go through it again, but it was good fun while I was playing.

This game is epic

I've been playing the BF franchise since 1942. I miss the MODS that came with PC gmaing though; we have a PS3 now.

But yes, BFBC 2 is goood times.

SFCHUD is our game name

Never heard of it. But after 3 years of ghost recon, #1 on solo sniper, with a little practice, I think, in time, I could kick your ass. haha.

No, sounds cool man. Maybe I'll catch you on the board sometime.

//#3 actually. I lie. Still, I was good back in the day. Punk. lol.
//yeah, I think I hit #3 solo sniper on xbox ghost recon at one point. Man, I loved that game.

desert combat ring a bell? :) :bath:

Probably one of my favorite pc games of all time, a shame it's more or less dead

Desert Combat was so awesome. I remember the first time I played and they were using Audio from Platoon.

FORGOTTEN HOPE is one of my all time faves (reality Mod)

Great thread!

I play on the PC and I agree that its by far one of the best multiplayer FPS out there right now. The Vietnam expansion is icing on the cake and the contrast between it and the regular bfbc2 is amazing - Super intense and surprisingly strategic in all its simplicity.

I wanna see a new version bf2142 in the near future.
