Beyond the Black Rainbow

Going to be watching for this film. Feels very THX 11138:

Set in the strange and oppressive emotional landscape of the year 1983, Beyond The Black Rainbow is a Reagan era fever dream inspired by hazy childhood memories of midnight movies and Saturday morning cartoons.

Holy moly. That looks like what would happen if Tron interfaced with David Lynch set in the era of clunky green phosphor screened computer monitors.

I would like to see more.

I'm really not sure. I think it premiered at some festivals. Not sure if it's been released to blue ray yet.

Ok sweet. I will keep an eye out for it.

Because of your post Jon Starr, I had a night of 1984, THX 11138 (which I'd never seen before) and a bit of Brave New World, so I had an interesting night. THX 11138 was intersting, if slightly slow, but I love that whole mind controlled, oppressed dystopian society thing.

I actually had the book Brave New world given to me when I was 12 but never read it. Even If I had I doubt I would of known exactly what I was reading (too immature, brain not up to par.)

I wish we had more interesting sci-fi films.

If you like stories with the whole Orwellian dystopic society concept, if you haven't already seen it then take a look at Equilibrium. The best way to describe it is as if 1984 was cross breed with the action style from The Matrix.

Hey man, yeh I saw it years ago, it has Christian Bale in it right? The 'gun-kata' thing was interesting lol. Love the scene where he slides on the door blasting foes lol..

Anymore films like that???

Films with gun-kata or ones with oppressive dystopia societies?

Dark City always had a certain oppressive feel to it.

Children of Men had a certain quality about it that for some reason reminded me a bit of 1984.

Farenheit 451 and Gattaca are a couple other ones that spring to mind.

The original version of Rollerball is pretty good. I wasn't too keen on the remake though.

I second Gattaca. It's one of my favorite films.

A stranger one is Brazil. It's a Terri Gilliam film. I wasn't a huge fan of it, but it's worth a watch at least once.

Dystpopian societies. Unfortunately I have seen ever single movie you have mentioned apart from Farenheit 451...I think, will have to check that one out.

And Gattaca......I've seen that but will have to have another watch its been a while.
