Best Workflow in CS6

OK, just getting started in editing with Premier CS6. What is my best work flow for importing, adding effects, and color correcting? I have already encountered some problems (bugs maybe) when exporting media. In one instance I left split screen preview turned on in fast color corrector and that's how my sequence exported - with the split screen. Another time there was a message in a blue bar across the screen from the warp stabilizer effect about needing to start analysis which also showed up in the output render. You would think such things would be ignored or automatically started for final output.

Your program monitor is showing exactly what is going to be output. If you can see it there, it is going to be in your render. Simple solution is to turn your effect off of split screen and either analyze or remove the warp stabilizer effect.

Thanks - So what would be the best method for applying cc and effects? Effects first and output intermediates, then cc each clip?

You don't want to render multiple generations if you don't have too. Are you color correcting in PPro? You can add effects per clip, do color corrections per clip (effects/cc stack) and you can do an overall grade for a project/segment with the new adjustment layers. They go on your timeline like any other clip but only hold effects. There are some good walkthroughs here: http://tv.adobe.com/product/premiere-pro/

Thanks. For right now I'm color correcting in PPro as Colorgrade doesn't seem to work on my pc. The biggest problem is with clips I have used warp stabilize on, as while it can be amazing, it is very time consuming and any small change in a clip to which it has been applied requires re-analysis. I have a new laptop on the way so I'll see what happens when it gets here. I'll be building a new workstation soon that will hopefully solve any hardware issues.
