Best workflow for Vegas from 550d

What is the best workflow having shot full resolution video on Canon 550d. Editing in Vegas. Output will be DVD for playback mainly on desktop, but also on clients website. He wants the option to view full screen. In my experience full screen rarely looks good and exposes any weakness in the footage.
I really want the best looking footage (obvious I know) I'm often disappointed with final output. Any help gratefully recieved.
 
Well, if you can get it into your editor, getting it out on DVD should pretty much follow the same process as you would for any other type of video.
