I have used the sennheiser wireless ew100 set and loved it but I dont know if I have the $400 to spend right now. can anyone recommend a alternative set? I obviously want a similar set with the two bodypack units and lavalier mic, not the bigger rack looking reciever unit. I will appreciate any feedback on different units. thanks!

I have used the Shure. It got great results. I rented that model though, and I think they are kinda pricey to buy. But it did have a body pack for both trans and receive.

i've used the lectrosonic setup and it was flawless.

i've never used the Senh EW100-ENG-G2, but i hear they might be good.

actually, if anyone has used both the Lectro and the Senh, and has some feedback, i'd love to hear the results.

if the Senh does even close to as good of a job as the Lectro, i'd totally throw down for that setup (half the cost as the Lectro)

We have been using a Sony UWP Lav for just under two years. It has not failed once. We have even used the body transmitter to transmit the audio from the output of a church audio board to the camera that was sitting about 50 feet from the board itself. Again, not one problem.

Honestly I recently used a lav set up from AT I borrowed from a friend (had ES943/C lavs), my advice is (and some may disagree ?), if u can use a shotgun mic instead of a lav the shotgun sound is much better. so my opinion is if you can somehow get the shotgun into use do it. Of course if its like a wedding or something then maybe you would need it as to not be intrusive. I would use lavs as last resort IMO.

i actually recommend just the opposite of ncje.

last week i was shooting a seminar in a large room. i started off using a shotgun (at-897), which i thought would be the best choice b/c the audience was occasionally asking questions that i wanted to capture. but i wasn't getting the results i needed.
i then switched over to my lectro wireless setup (with the lav on the lecturer), and got much better audio all around. the lecturer was 10 times as clear, and even the audiences questions were picked up better than with the shotgun (though i did have to ride the levels just a bit).

in my opinion, i would whip out the lav/wireless setup first, and only fall back on the shotgun if you're ever having trouble.

word.

Split Id agree in that situation it may work better similar to a wedding, but really depends on the situation.... I guess I was talking in the context of shooting a movie short or otherwise.
