it can be really hard to know what to get and what to pass on.
b&h and evs are great places to get stuff, evsonline can be a LOT more pesonal! ask for rush!
there are probably some threads on here of favorite accessories.
i don't know if we should start a new thread?
post our top 5 favorite accessories?
#1. 3rd party battery, the batteries sold right here rock! last forever and a VERY good price
#2. good case, porta brace, search on www.portabrace.com and see which ones fit the dvx, they have a normal size one and a huge one for people like me who carry way too much to fit into even two bags.
#3. a really good tripod, even if it is a stretch get a REALLY good tripod, i had a very basic bogen and i struggled with it for too long before i got a more appropriate one (501 or 503 head with decent legs)
#4. shotgun mic to replace the fairly useless one on top - i went with the sennheiser me66 and will be upgrading shortly to a cs-1 or cs-3
#5. if you do a lot of handheld work a supplemental handgrip, i started with a Bracket1 - hated it, too far forward, screwed up the natural balance big time, only choose that one IMHO if you are using it on a tripod, i got the mini-rover and really like it but i will probably be upgrading to a jimmybox.com or getting a modified jimmybox.com built for me.
those are NOT in any particular order other than the battery, the factory battery isn't very useful unless you shoot really short stuff.

That's not true, it can make a very handy paperweight.
