For a reality show, we need to record a Skype call. Our talent needs to get some family news from his wife on the east coast and we really want it to be video as opposed to a telephone call. Anyone have any success recording video chats?
Ecamm recorder. You can split the channels recorded too, which is quite handy. The other option is to film the monitor and tap the audio from the computer.
I used Snapz in the past. However it had some hickups. I was actually on a job for Skype a few years ago, and we recorded via Snapz. After each segment we would save the file, and it crashed once forcing us to re-do the segment, which sucked.
The best part was the Snapz reps were there, and they were amazed at how bad the quality was from their service. They said "But it looked so great in the office" and would not believe them when I assured them that's what skype always looks like.
I have been looking at Snapz for a while, but never got around to getting it. I have the WireTap Pro app from Ambrosia. It works great. It records any audio running through your Mac as an AIFF file. I use it all the time.
