Best way to edit a project in Vegas

I posted this message in the Premiere Forum but since I also cut on Vegas I hope the moderators dont mind me posting it here as well. Anyways I want to use outside freelance editors to work on some of my projects. Often times I need to personally do a final polish on their cut but I'm finding that difficult since so many people cut on FCP and I'm on PC with both Vegas and Premiere.

Whats the easiest way to make the transition between the two systems while maintaining as much flexibility in editing the footage?

I want to avoid having to go back to the source footage as much as possible and simply continue where they left off. Is this even possible? Would Premiere or Vegas be more prone to handling this problem?

Thanks

Premiere has *slightly* better export/import for EDL's, but not much. As far as footage, most everything will read the DV codec. Fortunately Vegas' proprietary codec is readable by anything that will read VFW, so you don't need to worry about that, either.
