Best way to do one scene in two days?

I have scene I'm shooting that is pretty basic, all takes place in one room with the people sitting for most of the time.

I'm shooting it over two days and not sure the best way to do it. I could either:

1) split the script in half and do the first half of the scene day 1 and second half day 2.
2) shoot the entire scene day 1 with all my wide shots, 2 shots, movement, etc. Then on day 2 shoot all the medium/closeups.

I'm leaning towards the 2nd option as I figure the 2nd day the actors will be more comfortable with the script so for the closeups I'd get better performances. Although I know continuity will be the biggest issue.

Any suggestions? Any warnings?

I personally would not use plan "#2".... I would shoot something like this scene by scene. Get all the coverage you need for each set up and scene, and than move on. Using your plan 2 could potentially be an absolute continuity nightmare. Everything from day one will have to be duplicated as exact as possible for day 2. Room arrangement, actors wardrobe, hair, makeup etc... did someone develop a big bright red pimple on their nose overnight that wasn't there on day one? even the way a persons hair lays may be different on day 2. Many things could go wrong. IMO you are adding levels of difficulty and problems that don't need to be there for a 2 day shoot using plan #2.

First, make sure you have a storyboard.

The most cost effective way to do this would be to shoot every shot you can with your lead actor, then he or she doesn't have to show up for day two. Or at least not for the entire day.

How long is this scene? Why is this taking two days to shoot if it's pretty basic and just people sitting down?

If it's at all possible I would just shoot everything in a day. Something "basic" like this should not take more than six hours to film.

I definitely second what Tommy K said about avoiding plan 2. Plan two sounds like it will slow you down and crate big problems with continuity and other things later on.
