Color correction is fun and all, but what is the best proceedure to crush blacks using the tools in vegas and/or magic bullet?

Try the "Offset" slider in the Color Corrector or Secondary Color Corrector.

Or, use the color curves and flatten out the lower left corner a little.

Can you also use from Studio RGB to Computer RGB? It darkens the blacks to like super black..but I'm not sure if thats the best way to do it.

is it?

If you're satisfied with the results, then it's fine. But if you use color curves, you can crush the blacks without increasing the highlights.

Of course, you can also do that by moving your contrast center, but I like the visual representation the curves give.
