Best way to achieve widescreen 16:9 footage

Maybe this question has been answered before but I can't seem to find it. Please forgive me if so.

I'm a complete novice and have just bought a DVX100BE. I would like to be able to shoot 16:9 widescreen (not letterbox) and there seem to be a "Squeeze" mode to create an anamorphic 16:9 footage on the DVX.

My question is, is that the best way to go?

That is, should I shoot it on this mode and use Final Cut Pro to import/export as widescreen footage as normal? Or should I just ignore the mode and shoot on the default 4:3 and later use some external upreezing application to obtain the desired result?

Which is the best way to go? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Jeremy (TheYankee),

Although the link you pointed to (for some reason) didn't launch any threads, I've got the message and have been searching through the group for an answer.

There seem to be some interesting - albeit confusing entries - that I found and my decision is to acheive widescreen footage by first shooting on 4:3 and then expanding in post production (through upreezing)
