Best titling add-on(s) for Vegas?

Hey All,

I'm curious as to what some of you recommend for doing text FX. I've found that I can do a lot with what comes with Vegas, but it takes a fair amount of work. I know this is a pretty broad and open ended question, so I’ll try to clarify just a bit.

What do you recommend for text that you want to:
· Fly In, Spin In, and move in 3D (and/or Extrude)
· Add special FX – Flames or other particle-like FX, lighting FX, etc…
· Animate letters to – bounce, follow a path, etc…

I'm very interested in this myself. I've gone so far as to try out After Effects, which obviously has awesome titling capabilities, but the learning curve is so steep and it seems kind of silly to spend so much just to take titling up a notch or two.

Surely there are some Vegas scripting gurus out there who've worked their magic to improve things a bit?

Extrude i dont think theres a tool within vegas but fly in, spin move in 3d all possible within Vegas itself. If your looking at extruded text movin in 3d etc you need an external program. I use 3ds max. But lesser complex progs that only handle 3d text like Boris Blue i think can do that. But apart from that most of Boris' softwares are very memory heavy and looks like the user interface was designed by a retard. I think new blue effects is a new plugin thats also worth trying. I dont think its as sluggish as Boris.

Adding spl effects such as flames, particle effects needs third parts FX softwares such as FX Lab, Or particle illusion. Lighting FX ? Lighting mostly applies to 3d, and to some extent theres lighting for 2d programs but mostly on a flat layer. Lighting is a very variable word. If your looking at lighting certain areas of text or layers of video etc Vegas has some inbuilt effects which can do that. You can also build artificial shadows etc using multiple layers of the video and by making some elements look black. You just have to meddle around. After Effects (a compositing program) has the ablity to have lights in 3d space and have them cast shadow on other layers using the alpha channel for transparency. Also remember you can make all your text logos etc within photoshop and then use that file .psd, .png or .tga files with alpha transparency saved from the photoshop interface. Also photoshop text seems to be a little better defined around the edges than using Vegas' own text tool.
