Best Support For Long Usage

Re: Best Support For Long Usage

Haven't used that. Look into the Steadi-Stick from Sanford & Davis (or Tiffen, I think Tiffen bought 'em). It's about half that price, and it moves all the weight to your hip, so there's *no* weight on your back at all.

It's not intended to be any sort of "stabilizer", it's just designed to make it easier to operate the camera for hours on end without putting strain on your shoulder or back.

Re: Best Support For Long Usage

I'd like to know if any others have used the DV Caddie. I'm not interested in the "floating" stabilizing like a Glidecam. I want something that is an alternative to a monopod. I hate using the monopod and haven't had much success with it. It's been barely better than my experience with hand held, and nothing like my experience with a tripod.

Can you get steady shots out of the DV Caddie?

Re: Best Support For Long Usage

i have never seen that posted before.

i use the mini rover right now and it is very good, there is a new thing called the jimmybox that has some real benefits over the rover.

i think the key is getting your arms a bit farther apart to make the platform that supports the camera more stable.

that said, i find myself doing more and more tripod work and being much happier with the quality of the shots.
