Best Sound Solutions for DVX-100B

Hey Friends:

I just got the new DVX-100B and I'm pretty happy to be joining your community.

First off, what are some best microphones for use with this camera. I am doing mostly documentary stuff (some shot at noisy convetions). Can I use a good shotgun microphone? What would be a good choice? How about wireless lavalier mics? What are my options, best place to buy, etc.

What about the onboard mics? How are they for these conditions? What would be the best settings, etc.

Any help here would be appreciated.

I would reckon a pretty good guess that if you do a search here....you will find all your answers. Noisy conventions.....probably lav....Evoluntion G2 would be a good choice. Check out http://dvcreators.com/ they have some very good products and excellent tutorials on many of them. Forget the onboard mic. Settings.....wow....start studying and practicing. Good start....read Barry Green's book.

You may want to check out the dedicated audio thread.

Also... in general, you don't really want to choose mics or other audio equipment based on your camera. You want to choose based on the material you'll be recording, and then do whatever you have to do to make 'em work with your camera.
