Best software-plugin to remove 'shakiness'

Hi
Have a lot of handheld footage shot with non IS lenses I want to salvage. Can anyone recommend their preferred method(s) in software for removing shakiness?

I've heard good things about FCP SmoothCam, and also recall reading good things about 'Lock and Load'?

Lock and Load has a 14 day full demo. Just try it. I works very well and it's quite fast in the motion tracking. Rendering still requires some time regardless. I am trying it now with a project.

I have been using Lock & Load for over a year. Its saved my bacon several times. In addition
it has a “lock down” mode that will emulate tripod mounting, if it’s not to shaky.
It takes a little time to render but it’s much faster than “SmoothCam” . After I have the clip
like I want it, I will render it then export just the Lock & Load clip as a quicktime file,
then import the file and insert it into the timeline so it never has to be rendered again.

Lock and Load works well. There is also ProDad Mercalli which works pretty well too. I've used both and gotten great results.

Thanks.
Hadn't heard of Mercalli but seems well established and quite popular
Will have to conduct my own test(s) once I purchase the new FCP and compare all 4
1-Smoothcam
2-Lock&Load
3-Mercalli
4-NewBlue

Surprised I can't find any existing real world test comparing these options, since I doubt they give identical results.

Thanks.

thanks for planning to do that. looking forward for it (btw- can you please try a small handheld shakiness on a close up or a closed shot? i will gladly send you one for testing)

If you have FCP you probably have Apple Motion. Have you tried importing your footage into Motion and using the Stabilize Behavior?
Saves you buying anything and can fix a world of wrongs.

Here's a little tutorial, you have to get about half way through for him to use the stabilize - smooth behavior.
Just a thought to save you some bucks.
