Best Smartphone and Apps for Film Making

I'm surprised I did not find more info on this in any of the forums when I searched. As limitations on phone capabilities at work are going away I'm finally looking to get a smartphone. I'm not trying to start an iOS-Android war here, but I'd like to get some thoughts on the state of current hardware and useful apps. I work solo, so I end up wearing most of the hats.

By the way, if you know of an existing thread that is on point, I'd love to check it out. I have trouble sometimes finding the thread I need on this site.

After looking my post over, I want to be sure everyone knows the smartphone is for support, not shooting footage.

Well in this old guy's opinion, well shot footage is well shot footage. Even from a smartphone.

That being said, here are a few of the apps on my iPhone.

I have a couple of Radar apps to keep up with weather and storms. Which can both affect a shoot.

I also have a couple of apps for location and talent release. But here is the major list.

pCAM
Artemis
FILMIC Pro
ShotList
Shot Designer
Lighting Designer
Panascout
Sun Seeker
LightTrac
SunriseSunset
MovieSlate
Handy Level
Mavis

Thanks for the replies. Is anyone using Android on shoots? My inclination is to avoid Apple, but if I have to swim hard upstream to do it, might as well join the crowd.

half or more of that list should be available for Android, you can search google play without owning an Android device. And at the price of tablets like the Kindow, not much reason not to own one. The Kindow is a bit slow in Windows, but works pretty well in Android. Only wish would be a newer version of the OS, like 7 or 8 would be nice.
