Best small video tripod - small enough to carry everywhere - and backpack

I've been researching this for 3 weeks. I've been to B&H 4 times. God knows why I didn't think to post this here.

I have the Canon 5D mark ii. Professionally I rent big expensive cameras so I don't need a lecture on spending good money for a quality and heavy tripod. If I wanted something professional I'd get an O'Connor. I want a small but good video tripod I can take around EVERYWHERE on a backpack. I live in NYC and don't have a car so I need to be able to take this everywhere for work attached on a backpack. Fluid video head a must. Must go high but collapse short when folded. Think: I need it to be small enough to make use of those great tripod holder accessories on newer camera bags but big enough for real jobs.

Problem is, these camera bags don't state how big of a tripod they can hold! I've looked at Kata, LowePro, Mountainsmith, Tamrac and they claim to have tripod holders but I don't know how big of a tripod they can support.

A week ago and after much research I went to B&H and bought the Manfrotto 701HDV head with the 755XB legs. The head offers excellent support and movement in an impressively small size. Gitzo makes the only other fluid head that rivaled it in size but I went with the 701HDV because it has a longer plate for other video cameras and honestly will appear more substantial to a client when I show up on a job. The 755XB legs were the best compromise in getting me height while also collapsing small. It is 25" folded.

What camera backpack could I use to carry this tripod everywhere?
OR
Which tripod (legs) should I buy so that I can carry it everywhere!?
