Best SLR for M2 Adapter

I'm considering purchasing a Redrock M2 adapter and also a SLR camera (Canon EOS, Nikon D70, etc). Obviously I would want a camera that would have the most lense compatability with the M2. Would this be a Nikon? I've seen people saying they get great results out of Nikon Primes with the M2. I would also need Manual Aperture lenses wouldn't I?

tim i suggest you go for nikon primes. cuz of the external aperature control. forget about canon eos stuff. but theres one thing i always wondered.. there isnt a manual switch on the nikon primes.. so they are pretty stiff when ure turning the focus.. i hope they are switched off when you switch em off from the camera.

okay.. now about digi-slr's.. id suggest you look at the comparisons of the canon with the D70 and.. another good camera would be the FujiFilm S3 Pro. now the s3 pro is a bit expensive.. i think its almost twice as expensive than a 350D or a D70.. but you could get a cheaper one used. however.. what sucks about nikon digislr's is their noise after ISO 400... the s3 pro however.. has better noise than a canon 20D IMHO but loses some detail cuz of it.. but not much of a big difference. and the fuji can use AF nikon lenses.. plus.. less FOV crop by a .1 (than a canon) i think. and its big, bulky.. me like big n bulky.. it gives you that pro feel/look.

but trust me.. you definately need external aperature control.

The focus ring becomes loose and easy to turn once detached from the camera.

Also, look into the D80, I just got one, it's amazing. 10.2 megapixels, great picture.

Thanks for the info, Akube, I was already leaning toward the nikon. Let me try to get one thing clear though, you said the focus on the nikon primes is "tough". Do you think that would adversely affect a follow focus system?

Well I don´t use it on the M2 (yet), but I use KonicaMinolta which is now SONY DSLRs (Sony Alpha it is called). You can get great old Minolta lenses for half the price or less. In fact I got a 50mm 1.7 lens on ebay for € 56, a 35-70mm lens for 1,99 (yes 1,99 and the shipping was worth more than the lens which was and is in crisp condition) etc. These lenses are on par with Canon or Nikon, only the autofocus on the DSLR is slower in that system (but I never miss a shot anyway). In the M2 that is not considerable so the deal is way better. My 2 cents.
