Looking for a good slider around $500. maybe 2 feet? I would prefer one i could add motors too later for interviews and timelapses but thats not important right now. I had a rhino slider in the past and they wont upgrade the old model, dont think they are worth the 600-800 price so trying to stay away from rhino.

Look for a used slider from a good maker in good condition.

Lots of people bought sliders but found out they don't need them all that much. Might be worth it to try a 'Want to buy' post to see what offers you get.

I have one of these, and as a slider snob, I'd say it's excellent. No motors, but it's rock solid:

I also have this, which is very good: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B6JT9NG/

I'm curious about this GVM slider, why is it under $400 if it works as a normal slider, also has a motor that can go back and forth WITH the parallax moves and do timelapse? Isnt that as good as the rhino? why over 1k cheaper? whats the downside im missing here? I assume a little noise but for an interview where you are 10-20 feet from the person i assume it wouldnt pick up the noise?

I've never used it without the motor but it seems to function fine although there is a little (consistent) drag from the motor. I don't recall noise from the motor being excessive (and I would have noticed), but I haven't used it for interviews. It seems to be quiet enough to use for a normal interview set up. As for the cost difference, I assume "Rhino" is a popular brand, and popular brands come with a heightened price tag. This is essentially a no-name slider and certainly Chinese manufacturers are wizards at producing inexpensive goods for low cost to consumers with high (enough) degrees of quality.

GVM has released a new version of their 31" slider (currently selling on the UK amazon and their own gvmled.com website). New controller design, motor on the end of the slider and a 'looped drive belt' instead of the single belt design of the version they have been selling for the last few years. There is one video out currently showing the new slider in action...I've placed an order from the GVM website for the new slider and its based on the generally good reviews that I've read for their products, and this 31" slider in particular. Yes, the Rhino, Edelkrone, shark sliders of the work are all better constructed, probably more reliable, smoother, and some with more features....but for my needs the GVM hits the price/performance balance...so will be soon in my video toolkit.

Slider arrived, I like the new design, and it is light years ahead of my old Camtree 3 ft e-slider. Motor is very quiet, inaudible from a foot away compared to the e-slider which had an annoying noise and was audible from several feet away. The GVM slider is light, carbon fiber rails compared to solid aluminum on the e-slider (yes, the e-slider could carry heavier camera/accessories), so carrying the GVM around will be a joy. Having the ability to do a straight 'slide', a parallax, or a panorama action will open up many more shot possibilities. And being able to set and forget the slider is a huge help when shooting interviews as a 'one man band'. I don't need the timelapse feature as I use camcorders, but considering the combination of features and improvements that have been made over the past six or so years, the 'new' sliders are a huge improvement over the earlier models.
