Hey Gang,
What do you consider the best single Chip video camera is?
A good friend of mine is wanting one to shoot stuff of his daughter who is on the Snowboard race curcuit. Doesn't need a DVX.

I have looked at the Sony Mpeg DVD camera's they look interesting...

Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: ???Best Single Chip Camera???

You could always look at the Panny GS-120. It's a 3-chip camera for about $580.00US. That might be a great option.

Re: ???Best Single Chip Camera???

I've had a Sony TRV730 for three or four years now and it has never had a problem. It's digital 8 but it's a little workhorse. I've never even had to clean the heads!

Re: ???Best Single Chip Camera???

I had a Canon Optura 200MC before it was stolen this summer :'(. It was a great little camera, took stills on an SD card, had a flash. Very nice little camera. I had it for about a year and the heads did start to get dirty. We used the hell out of it though.

Re: ???Best Single Chip Camera???

I used to use (and still have) the original Canon Optura - while noisy in low light (read: NOISY) under optimal conditions provided me with GREAT results. And it had teh ability to shoot true 30P, too - it was a 1 chipper

I have had no complaints with my little JVC. Feature-packed. Great picture. Low price. Eerily receptive microphone. It's the DVL920.

Horse-Do you have one of these? If so, how does it hold up, headwise?

Thanks,
Terri
