Best settings to capture for slow-mo shot

I'm shooting my first short this weekend and there is one shot in particular that I what to ensure I capture with the ideal settings.

The shot consists of a small trickle of blood running down a finger. The blood collects at the end of the finger until enough has formed to create a drop, at which time it falls to the floor below.

I know I will be creating the slow-mo effect in post, however, what settings should I shoot with in order to provide the best raw footage to work with?

It's a given that I'll be shooting the film in 24p, but should I increase the frame rate for this sequence? What about shutter speed?

Any help you guys can provide would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you.

Do you have the Barry Book? I'm pretty sure he covers it. I think for the smoothest, and slowest, you want to shoot in 60i @ 1/120 shutter.

Thanks for the direction guys.

Gage - no, I don't have Barry's book - I don't own a dvx either! I'm borrowing a friend's XL2 for my short.

Ian, I'll give alex mitchell's method a try, as I want the highest resolution possible. I hope I don't encounter problems as some on the thread did.

Bottom line is, this technique will allow me to achieve my intended "vision".
Thanks for the help.
