Best Settings for 2 Camera Sport Shoot with Editing in Premiere

A friend and I have volunteered to video a speed/figure skating event for a non profit. This will be a two camera shoot. My camera will shoot 30p and 60i. His camera will shoot 30p and 60p. I will be editing in Premiere Pro CS6. I am under the impression that shooting at 60 frames per second is best for capturing the action.

My question, for action sports like this would we be better off both shooting in 30p or would we get better results with him shooting at 60p and me at 60i? I am assuming Premiere will be able to handle the mixed footage, but I am concerned about getting the best quality output from Premiere.

Thanks,

Dan

Premiere will be able to output whatever you need. Pick your frame rate based on what you want the footage to look like.

60p/i looks live. That's good for sports. 30p looks less live. That might be good for interviews. You can mix everything you plan to shoot easily in a 60p sequence, and output it all as 60p or 60i and retain the look of all of the footage. But what you shoot depends entirely on the feel you want to have in the footage.

I would work real hard to try and use the same specs for both cameras, even if that means using a different camera.

Having both cameras shooting 60p would be ideal but one shooting 60i and the other shooting 60p would be my second choice.
