Best screenwriting software?

I use Final Draft right now, but since I also want to direct, I'm starting to lean a bit more towards celtx.

I only tried final draft and celtx.

celtx is more fun to work with. converting to pdf is sometimes problematic because you have to be online and their server is often unavailable.

If you have a Mac, or Windows with some form of Printer->PDF converter, you don't need to be online to generate a PDF out of Celtx. The ordinary 'print' (under the usual file menu) function will serve to get you to the PDF output.

There may be slight differences in page numbers, etc... but only a pantiesinabunch twit would worry about such...

I have Movie Magic and Celtx. Haven't used Movie Magic, as I have an older version from when I was on a PC. Now that I'm on a Mac I've been using Celtx since. Great free software that does all I currently need.

Now if only Canon would follow suit and give me a fee 7D.

I don't think they are 'free' even to the Canon 'Talent Team', that is the folks who go around demoing/promoting Canon products. The 'best' one can do is get demo cameras for a period of time, or sometimes discounted prices...

The Wife use to get a lot of sponsorship from Nikon and Fuji, but both have pretty much dried up even for 'demo' cameras. Further, Fuji has pretty much vacated the 'pro SLR' market all together... Their camera was based on one Nikon frame or another, but they used their own sensor+processing design, which to us, had better color qualities 'out of the box'. (Nikons tended to have a bluish/purplish twinge, Canon's had a 'yellowish'... Fuji seemed to match their films, which we took to be better...)

I used Word macros

I used Word macros

I'm a rank amateur who wanted to write a short screenplay a while back. I looked at a few of the software options mentioned in previous posts here and realized that "all it is is formatting." So I downloaded a trial version of (I think it was) Scriptor. I looked at what it did for the various types of script content and built a series of Word macros that did the same things. I hooked the macros up to the same keystrokes as Scriptor and found it all worked OK.

I'll be happy to share the macros with anyone who wants to try them. All you need is Microsoft Word - I expect any version will be OK. My email is in my sig website.
