Does anyone know the best rendering Codec for premiere pro and After effects?
Excluding the default ones that come with the program. (not for web, for regular viewing.

Just for viewing. Not web

IT depends how you define "best". and best what. e.g, best encode speed, best file size, best picture quality etc...

[galangstar]

Lets say... 1440 by 1080. Sorry im a huge newb and this is i realize a very blunt question.

[Jordan_S]

What is the source footage? On what will you be viewing it?

[PerroneFord]

Render to uncompressed AVI. Best.

[Taky]

There're some looseless codec like Lagarith. They are not for viewing purpose. I use Matrox I-Frame HD codec since I have the matrox card. But I found out the VFW HDV codec (Matrox I-Frame codec) is unlocked. You can find the link in my blog http://lacolorshop.com/blog/view.asp?id=41

Yes, but unfortunately not always practical.

Again, what is best?

I offered an answer commensurate with the question...

Best is whatever i say it is. Or whatever you say it is. Or whatever person #2975 says it is.

If I was doing "regular viewing" which I suppose means watching on my computer, I'd use windows media (WMV) or MJpeg in a .MOV container. Both work just fine, don't take a ton of room, and play well even on slower hardware.
