Best rendering codec; Vegas Pro 10/11 ??

I have 3 custom codec presets made in Sony Vegas Pro 10/11. Which are; Sony AVC, QuickTime-7, WMV. I upload lots of my videos(1080P) online via YouTube or Vimeo. I'm trying to figure out which rendering codec is the least compressed and has better image quality of the three? Rendering time is not a concern to me either.

Ive read in order best rendering codec; QuickTime, wmv. and Sony avc.(last). I do occasionally play my videos on other computers or 1080P monitors/TVs.

I just want to know which one is the best to render with. Thanks guys

Best results with the most control (and smallest file size) out of Vegas, in my experience, are with Sony AVC.

QuickTime isn't a codec; it's a wrapper. There are many codecs you can use with it. Vegas doesn't do it terribly well.

I see, and that's what I currently use too. What other options could I go with aside from the Sony avc, that is possibly better?

For web yes, but also if I want to display my videos to clients. So if I play the videos on a 1080P computer screen or TV.?

i use Quicktime Avid DNxHD for the "master" and Sony AVC for web or other applications where a smaller filesize is needed.

Sony AVC at a high bitrate works fine for that, too, but you've got lots of choices. "Best" is always a matter of specifics, which change from situation to situation.

@ eiker_ir: That's kind of what I had in mind. Whats your quicktime settings in Vegas Pro 10/11/12 if you dont mind. Thanks.

I agree, I guess what Im looking for is a better setting for a "master" copy to display to clients. And I can always use Sony AVC for the web.

Codecs such as Avid DNxHD provide very high quality, but much larger file sizes (not good for delivery). Probably the best way is to use H.264 codecs (Sony AVC, Mainconcept AVC) with higher bitrates (~10 Mbit/s). You can also try Video4YouTube extension with Best quality option. It's free.

There's a difference between a master copy and a display copy. AVC is just fine for display. It's not so good for using as a master to render to other codecs, but for display, it's just fine. A bitrate over 8,000,000 will yield results you'll like.
