i would like to know what is the best option for sound compression. in procoder 3 there's only 4:1 that can compress and be decent but you can hear a lot of buzz in the background. is there a plugin you can add to compress mp3 format or any other software that can do the job?

With Quicktime, you're limited to the audio codecs listed.

I would use only three:

1) AAC for audio quality that needs to be compressed down for a stremable file

2)Apple Lossless - To send HQ masters over FTP where Bandwith could be an issue

3)Linear PCM - Only for those who have slow comptuers on the other end and may not have time to transcode files.

In my opinion, Apple Quicktime should only be used when dealing with or sending masters to people using FCP, or Avid DNxHD. For streaming try Flash video, or handing a high quality file for client review, use WMV.
