Best QT setting for Dbeta transfer

Transferring my film to Digibeta, and the studio needs an 8 bit uncompressed Quicktime file (720x486) in 29.97. My Standard Definition sequence in FCP 5 is in 23.98 (DV NTSC) with Advanced Pulldown Removal (Capture preset). If I export a self contained Quicktime with those uncompressed settings, will it convert from 23.98 to 29.97 properly?

Is that the best Quicktime resolution setting possible in FCP 5 to export for Digibeta transfer ?

Does anyone know if there is a sure way to convert a 23.98 SD DV NTSC film to 29.97 for digibeta transfer? Is this possible in FCP 5? Thanks.

You should be able to take them a 23.98 file... any good capture card will insert the pulldown correctly if you tell it to. You need to change your sequence settings from DV to Uncompressed and then output a self-contained QT movie.

You can properly add the pulldown in After Effects... I don't think FCP handles it the right way. Best bet is to talk to the studio and have the card insert the pulldown.

Thank you.

Is that the sequence settings for the regular QT movie export, not the Quicktime Conversion?

I tried a 5 minute self contained QT sample of the film in 8 bit uncompressed, and it looked like the sync was off a little. Does that happen normally because it's without the pulldown?

I was saying that you should switch the sequence settings within FCP to Uncompressed, then re-render, and then output a self-contained movie (not QT conversion).

sync should not be effected... maybe your hard drive was struggling to playback the file.

So you're referring to changing the Sequence Preset and creating a new 8 bit uncompressed timeline, re-render, before outputting the self contained QT?
