Hi, I wondered what is the best ProRes LT alternative on Windows. I usually transcode CinemaDNG to ProresLT on a Hackingtosh which I think offer a very good balance for my need. but I will traveling for a while an need to change my work flow a bit because I will be using a Windows Ultrabook.

I need to transcode 10 bits so the only two alternatives I had founds are on Davinci Resolve WIN are:

1)Grass Valley HQX
and
2)DNxHR HQX 10 Bits

The Only problem is file size are twice as bigger as Prores LT so Backing up the footage will be sort of an Issue. Any other alternatives?

I'm windows based and my solution for ProRes on windows is using Assimilate Scratch V8.6 which as far as I know is the only Apple licensed application on windows for encoding/decoding/transcoding ProRes. To purchase is rather expensive but they do offer one month subscriptions for $79 or $650 annually including support which has been excellent. It does require a pretty beefy GPU. You can find out more here:

if you want to compare to DNxHQX, then ProRezHQ is the match, not Lt
if you want to compare to ProRezLt then DNxHR_LB is the match

Lt is 8bit, LB is 8 bit
HQ is 10 bit, HQX is 10 bit

apples to apples
oranges to oranges
not apples to oranges (Lt compared to HQX)
