best/propper silk diffusion for overhead lighting

I'm putting in a simple, 2 500 watt lowel tota lighting "grid" for our studio. the totas work well for a broad light, and I'm using two at 500 watts each. I need to diffuse them to get more even coverage and the gel frame with a diffusion sheet doesn't work, there's not enough coverage and way too much light leak from the sides. I have a throw of only four to five feet from the light source to the wall, so what density of diffusion silk/cloth would best to get good even coverage. Also keep in mind, the silk has to be probably about a foot or so away from the open face lights.
Thanks.

I agree a sodtbox is probably your best bet. Chimera makes nice ones, I would suggest an egg rate which also helps channel the light and prevents spill

I need to look more into how much space I have, but I don't think I have enough for the softboxes. I'll post some pics of the space.
