Sorry if this is too on topic. It's kind of a general software question. I want to edit together a little tribute video using some DVDs, but decrypted, ripped VOB files will not import into Premiere Pro directly. What is the best way to turn VOB files into something editable in Premiere Pro?

i tried that before, with a lot of programs, and never managed to import sound too. Then a friend of mine told me he his way...

Just rename the *.vob files to *.mpeg then you can import them into premiere Pro. To do that i think you will have to enable "show extensions" under windows.

The vob files also should only have one sound track.

My friend told me it doesnt work with all dvds and he had problems doing that with Premiere Pro 2.0 and it worked in 1.5.

Good luck

This may not be the best way but Nero can do it by importing the vob files into the timeline and then clicking the export button and saving out as an mpeg.
Depends on how much compression loss your willing to put up with. Just as idea.

Hi:

Get DVD Shrink 3.2. It's freeware and works great! I don't recall where I got my copy, but you can probably Google it and find it soon enough. Good luck.

That outputs as a VOB as best as i can remeber it. FYI

I use DVD ripper from Xilisoft...works great...it's not free though, but it did the job for me.
