Greetings all,

I have taken the plunge and started to acquire my equipment. Thanks to the forum for all the information on help on getting the list together.

Now, I was wondering if anyone might have news or information about good deals on the following items either new or used. I have also posted as WTB in the marketplace just in case.

+Sound Devices SD302

+Audio Technica AT4073

+Sennheiser G2 Wireless System

+Countryman B6

+K-Tek Avalon KE-110CC

+Boomstand or C-Stand

Thanks a bunch. I really appreciate it. Saving a bit of money helps out in the long run when the "must have" list just seems to be getting bigger and bigger as each day goes on.

Kevin.

BH usually have the best deals. I also always ask stores I buy from if they can give me a better deal, you'll be surprise how many great deal I got this way. Check ebay as well. Many production comapanies buy equipment for one shoot and then sell it back on ebay. For a more personalized service Zacuto has alway given me very competitive prices(in many case better than BH) , they are a delight to deal with.

I've used Trew and Coffey for new and used purchases and have gotten good deals from them. But, because I'm in California, I don't use Coffey anymore, because then I have to pay sales tax and shipping. With Trew, just shipping. Both are very knowledgeable and helpful.

Oh, and watch out for one additional gotcha - if you order from Trew Canada, your credit card may add on an international transaction fee.

(I've also used B&H for some stuff - actually got my 302 used through them, but it was not in the condition represented. I sent it to SD and they fixed it for free (it was still under warranty - as a result, I don't recommend B&H's used equipment department. But, on the plus side, I only paid $800 for it. ;-)

Sweetwater.com is normally pretty good at price matching almost any place in the country, plus you have a dedicated sales rep with knowledge of all your inquiries and questions... It's good customer service but you have to research prior to get them to match because they are normally 5-10% higher in cost than others.

I've also had excellent service from Coffey sound. Pick a good supplier and stick with them. In no particular order:
Coffey Sound
Trew Audio
Gotham Sound
Location Sound
I'm sure there's more. I've bought plenty of stuff from B&H, but for more niche products, I'll stick with a good retailer like one of the above.

Thanks for the good info. Those names kept coming up in most of the threads. And, it seems that Coffey has a pretty nice package deal on the AT4073. They will even upgrade to the K Tek SSM for about $59 additional.

Thanks alot for all the help and advice.

K.

Yeah. Talk with Chris or Robert at Coffey Sound. Tell them Dave Fisk told you to go there, and they'll hook you up. They should have all that stuff in stock.
