Best price-performance fot RAM

Hi There,

We are about to purchase a new G5 2.5 dual and I'm going for the original bare bone option from the Apple site (with a substantial discount).
My question is which are the best deals for RAM memory and what is the recommendable amount.
I've been using 2 gigs with good results but also heard some suggestions of at least 4 gigs for dual processors and all.
Appreciate any input on this subject.

Thanks,

Alex,

I had someone from the Mac store tell me to buy it from Crucial.com. They said it is the same exact product that Apple will sell to you, only at half the price direct from the manufacturer. You go to the Crucial.com web site, select the model computer you are getting and it tells you what to order. Compare it to the price on the Mac site and feel smug that you saved some coin.

I use a Mac g4 with 1gig memory and have no problems. 4 gigs sounds like an awful lot, but guess it depends what you are using it for.

The RAM in my mac was made by Samsung (quality memory.) Crucial is great, too. I've used it with great success.

I guess I'd look for the same speed of ram (DDR400 or 533 or whatever) then find whatever has the lowest CAS latency (2 or 2.5).

I have Samsung RAM in my Net Computer, Crucial in my Editing system, and Corsair in my gaming PC. Crucial is super stable, never a Memory freeze. Corsair is great for overclocking. But in the end, Crucial always gets my vote.

Definitely go for Crucial, I filled up my Dual 2.5 with their RAM and no problems at all ...

And they are fast too ...
