Best practices - remove mic from mount?

Just wanted to get an opinion from some of you audio professionals...

I only own two mics currently, an AT4073a and an Oktava. When not in use, I've left the shotgun in the k-tek zeppelin (in the shockmount, obviously) and the Oktava in it's KSSM mount (with the BBG and windjammer) ready to go.

This practice has just "made sense" for me as I can quickly store these items after use, as well as save some time when setting up.

My question is, will leaving the mics in the shockmount prematurely fatigue the suspension? Is there a "best practice" for mic storage? Granted, I do have the original storage case for both mics.

Thanks for your feedback.

I don't know anyone who stores their mics in the originl cases. I'm sure that in the suspension is probably the best place for it, then your not moving it in and out all the time, handling it, potentially dropping it etc. The plus of having it ready to go i would imagine would far outweight the cons.

Ditto with Scooby.

I have everything ready to use 24/7. I even got extra mounts/screens so that I don't have to change things around hardly ever. Stuff is going to wear out eventually if you use it either way... don't let that fact ruin your enjoyment of the gear. Whatever you gain in always returning everything to it's original case and seperate storage won't matter that much because the aging happens on location.

Thanks for the feedback.

It's nice to get confirmation that I'm not being lazy - leaving the mics in their shockmount with screens just makes good sense. Quick to set up and to pack away.
