Best practices for processing vocals

Just throwing my 2 cents in there to say I agree. 120hz is way too high for just about all male voices.
In my experience it seems to fall anywhere from 70-100hz for 99% of male voices.

While most of the time you can roll off a bit higher for women it really depends on the voice as Ive had plenty of times where
they reach into the sub 100hz range.

As Chad said.. "use your ears".
It really is one of the easiest tweaks to do listening to a simple sweep of the freq's.

To toss in a wrinkle, in post as opposed to production you may want to roll off higher even if it's a bit noticeable (in comparison). The voice may be overly rumbly or the trade off is worth it to get rid of some other awfulness.

Since you are the last stage and you are not passing it on to somebody else whatever works best for the film is what you go with.

That said unless it's an "artistic" choice your job is to do as little "harm" as possible so tread lightly.

Hey something happened! I think I'm having a flashback or something. My color is all different!

I think they changed forum software. It's gone all Adobe. Either that or someone let their kid play with the preferences while they were tweeting...
Part of the move from usable and "boring" to "elegant" and hard to use.

The new "thread has updates" icon is??? near impossible to read. I understand why it had to change, the last one made it too obvious. We didn't have to work hard enough for it. Now I feel a real sense of accomplishment when I click and there IS a new post!

It's classy or whatever.... But it's a ***** to compose a message because the text is black, and the box is dark gray.
