Best Portable Light "Run & Gun" Styl

Hi Everyone,

I have a quick question. I am beginning to shoot a Lifestyle type television series that requires
'run and gun' style of shooting and almost no time for lighting setups so basically I have to use
a on-board camera light. The broadcast station provided a Lowell i-Light with a 40W and a 100W bulb
but these are very harsh and bright. We need to shoot a lot of interior and exterior night shots
at restaurants, pubs, and nightclubs in a high-class area in Vancouver so we want to be as unobtrusive
as possible, yet obtain enough light for proper exposure.

Do you have any suggestions as what we should do? Should I just use some type of diffusion paper and place
it infront of the Lowell i-Light? Are there any other lights in the market that can help with shooting
quick interviews in a run-gun style without looking too flat and of course portable?

Should I use the same i-Light but have an assistant hold up a bounce board?

The broadcast station will purchase the lights I require for shooting if it's within the budget.

Thanks for your time and I hope to hear from you soon.

Cheers,

Norm Li

I think I still feel the same. The frezzi lets you do some neat things with its features ( dimmer, mobility, accessories, filters, high wattage, etc) however, I think the sony is a good light for times when you may get bumped around or need to put on a light, FAST and be sure it AND all its parts will stay in place. the battery attaches to the back. I always use diffusion paper on the front. There is a photographers flash--(word I forget) that fits over it perfectly that you can buy. if you need the model, let me know. Another thing I hate about the frezzi is having this cord hang from the top of the camrea to my shooting pouch.

I have enough cords hanging off me while shooting.

You can also use the sony light as a flashlight and spot light. I put it on lightstands sometimes, also.
