best portable jib.

As I understand it the Kesslers are designed for use with their head, or swivel mount, & would need modification to use with another system.

Long Valley offers a modified speaker stand for the Seven Jib. Don't know if it would fit other booms, but certainly not an option for a Kessler without one of their swivels attached.

Also on that site Douglas Underdahl offers some guidance on choosing support for booms.

Matt,

I'm looking for a travel jib, & assume you considered the Seven XL, so wonder what features made it worthwhile to go with the more expensive Explorer?

I've haven't used either of these, but am a fan of the full size Porta.

Thanks,
Bern

Hi Bern,

Actually, one of the only reasons I did not think about the Seven XL was that I forgot about it.

I HAVE used one and it was excellent too.

Best,

Matt

I recently picked up an IndiSystems AirJibXL, it's super light and portable (with a neat waterbottle based counterweight system). It's only really suited to lighter weight cameras though - we certainly got a fair bit of wobble attempting moves with a bare-bones F3 mounted on it. But for speed of setup time, and the ability to quickly vertical camera moves, it fits the bill for a portable jib (for a lightweight camera system at least).

Interesting. But I wish I could find better pics and at least one video on the web that shows sample footage and footage "of" the jib working...
