Best output options for video archival

Hi all. I'm interested in archiving/exporting my projects to the highest possible format possible, with the idea being that I can take these exported files and use them on different NLEs in the future if the need arises. The source files are 1080i MPEG2 HDV files. Up til now, I've been exporting to high quality 1080p 25fps MPEG2 format. Seems to make the most sense, since I'm originating from MPEG2 to begin with. Is there a higher quality lossless alternative that I should be considering? Thanks in advance.

I've never heard of UT video, but from what I read, it's a windows only format. If I exported to UT in premiere, took the file, and gave it to someone with final cut pro for export, would it work?

As of version 11, UT is both Windows and Mac. Your friend would need to install it as well, but yes it should work.
