I am using a adobe premier pro 1.5, I need to export to DVD, and I want to add extras, have a chapter page and all that. but the file is HUGE. What is the best setting to output at using adobe encoder? Most of it was shot in 24p/a and some 30p. I need to get all this done for it's premier this saturday in Duluth, MN along with a couple other adventure films...check it, my first attempt at a full lenght bike film...anyway and advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

just keep your max bitrate under 7.4mbps or the dvd will likely have trouble in alot of set top players. "the best" is an arbitrary thing that needs to be determined by the amount of content your trying to fit onto one disk. really, id just suggest going with a dual layer DVD for output to break the 4.7 GB barrier if your currently larger file will make it in under the 8.4 GB weigh in for a DL DVD. otherwise you just need to use the highest quality encoding settings you can while keeping your file size at or under that which will allow you the room for your planned extra content on the disc. generally you can encode your 24p sections as 24p to save space and then encode your 30p sections as 30p but ifthey are together in the edit youll have to output all 29.976 for the 30p sections to look right. ..really you could do this in encore instead of premiere if your encoding to 29.976. then you will se your used disc space for your planned project pending the encoding you choose.

Yeah, I'd use encore, and then whether you're using a single layer (4.7Gb) or dual layer (8.4Gb) disc, you can set Transcode Settings to "Automatic" and it will encode things at the highest possible setting that will fit on the disc.

I'd try to export uncompressed, then use canopus to get it down small enough for DVD without losing the quality. If canopus can't get it small enough with one run-through, then forget it and export uncompressed and use architect.
