What is considered one the best and affordable on board camera light ? (for panasonic).

I read some reviews about Litepanel, smith Victor, cool lux, lowel ilight, frezzolini....but which ones have been a better tested light for interviews, documentaries, run and shoot style...?

thanks

For interviews you are always better off with lighting that is not "ON Board". On board lights are more of a necessity in run and gun situations. If you know you're doing sit down interviews, do what you can to use other lighting. Practicals can work and even 1 simple soft light (Rifa's are good and reasonably priced) will get you better results than a light on the top of your camera. But when it comes to oncam lights, I have and like the LitePanel. It is expensive though...

I completely agree with everything that tumbleweed shared.
Here's another approach... Depending on your budget, and available crew, a pancake lantern, chinaball, or softbox, supported by a boom pole or even hand carried and battery operated, would be one of the best ways to handle this. Your goal is to not make your footage look like local news footage, where the talent is way too dark or more often the case, WAY too much light-washed out-too much hard light. Short of that, a Litepanels or ZYLIGHT--$$$ with a softbox. www.zylight.com.

just received my 2 90z zylights. wow. have 2 ways to mount ,on a 3 in knuckle that slides on the mic slot. or 12 in with the new noga arm . the second light works buy remote control where ever you put it . dial up the kelvin white balance from 2500 to 9000. or dim the light. or shoot out any color of the rainbow all from the unit on top of the camera. even runs on almost any battery source . 7 v to 24v i have little 12v on camera that are cheep. same batterys for my ikan monitor ,lights ,gyro . great to be able to use so many different power sources. being a one man show i had to get this set up. no regrets. lighting is everything..........

Jetaddiction, I couldn't be happier with mine either. Did you get the stackable batteries as well ? I do like the fact that they will power up many different types of devices, and the power to keep them all on for several hours..
