I shoot on a 5D Mark III and shoot all of my footage with Technicolor Cinestyle profile for post-grading. Despite the 5D's great low light performance, I still get noise in the shadows and other dark areas. I've read that some of this noise can be caused by the Cinestlye profile, so Im not sure if thats whats really causing it but thats besides the point.
I use Sony Vegas and have been using the NewBlue Noise Removal plugin. It does a decent job at removing noise, but at the same time, the more you increase it, the more detail I lose in the footage. Its hard to explain but the more you increase the more I get kind of this pastel look to the footage. Similar color ranges seem to consolidate or blend together the more you turn it up, and sharpness tends to decrease. The NewBlue plugin has a control for "Details" which is supposed to retain detail when removing noise but its useless and I don't see a difference.
I'm looking for another noise removal plugin or technique (I'm willing to pay) that is good at removing noise will still keep details intact. I've read around and seen names like NeatVideo, vReveal. I wonder how they compare to each other, if there's other out there that are better, want to hear personal experiences.
