My buddy is asking me to help him shoot some stuff for his work, and I am going to be shooting a lot of interviews, mainly interiors (such as small offices and bedrooms) as well as interviews in cars while the vehicle is in motion. Also, we are going to start shooting car videos (promos, commercials, etc.) for his coworkers who happen to have a few nice cars(Lambo Murci, Viper SRT10). Now, I am very new to audio, and I have to do it myself because we don't have an audio guy to handle it. I was thinking that a hypercardiod mic would be good for the indoor and in-car interviews, while a short shotgun might do for capturing the sound of the engine and the exhaust of the cars outdoors. My question is, are there any particular types of mics or mic models/setups that you guys would recommend for these shooting situations?
