Best mic for live music...

[blando3]

I've been shooting interviews with my shotgun on one channel/wireless on the other, but for live music, what is the best mic for indoor shows, other than hooking into the house feed?
Thanks...

I'd say bury your head in here for a while:
then come back!

My bet: a decent matched pair of cardiods
or figure of eight and cardiod

I have a Rode NT4 single point stereo mic. It costs about $500 and gets great sound. Stereo imaging is great whe I record dtraight to my Mac with Digital Performer. I highly recommend it, I have recorded over 500 hours with it, great every time !

Hi,

there is no all-purpose mic for indoor recording and definitely not for recording live music. As you move the camera (mic) you will always hear that.
Theres no better solution than recording the tunes at the FOH and syncing it afterwards.
