Hello everyone.

I'm sure this is mentioned in a thread somewhere, but I can't find it so... I remember a lot of people were mentioning a particular lighting book at one time, and for the life of me I can't remember what it was called or who it was by. People were saying it was the must have lighting book for DP's. Or please tell me your favorite lighting book!

Thank you my friends...

Jeremy

I have "Film Lighting," "5 C's of Cinematography" "Reflections" "Cinematography: Theory and Practice" All really good.

Also look into these-

High Definition Cinematography - Paul Wheeler

Motion Picture and Video Lighting - Blain Brown (Anything by him is good)

Film Directing - Shot By Shot (tons of information about camera placement, blocking, etc.)

Setting Up Your Shots - Jeremy Vineyard

I recommend you :

"Painting with lights" - John Alton (a must read!, maybe this is what you are searching for)
" Cinematography" (third edition) - Kris Malkiewicz and M. David Mullen (ASC)
" Matters of Light and Depth" - Ross Lowell

btw... if you want to learn more about being a DP aside from the lighting part of the job, check out the ASC Cinematographer's Manual. Its basically the bible of Cinematography, and has been for a while. You can buy a copy from the ASC itself online at www.theasc.com
