Best lighting book

[dcdirector]

Which book would you rate as the best book for lighting?
Is the "professional lighting handbook" version 2 (copyrighted 1991) still up to date? -- and has anybody read or heard about the incredibly expensive ($425) book on lighting called IESNA Lighting Handbook (Hardcover) and is it really worth it? One last question, which book goes in depth on electrical topics (I'm going to work as a 2nd electrician on a small project)? Thanks.

Set Lighting Technician's Handbook by Harry C. Box is quite good.

For lighting specific to DV, check out John Jackman's book. I think it is a bit old, but full of info. I think it is called lighting for DV and television.

Thanks bcheong. That's the book I was thinking about the whole time but couldn't remember the exact title! I remember reading that book about 10 years ago.

Lighting for Film and Television by Gerald Millerson.

I wonder if Barry Green will have a chapter in his new book about lighting for HVX.
