Hello,

I am looking for the best light meter at a reasonable price, can anyone give me a good option to go for.

Right now I am looking at the MINOLTA IV F AUTO LIGHT METER

Any advice?

Im a big big fan of the spectra IVA.

It's so simple and the damn thing is truly indestructable !

I find the sekonics, although seemingly more feature packed, so complex that you spend most of tour time on set jumping through menus and pushing buttons !

You want it to be as simple as possible in the middle of shooting.

I know of two guys who have made monumental errors on set using the sekonics and having some obscure setting switched in or being on spot mode when they though they were in ambient mode.

I still use an analog Sekonic Studio Deluxe (II, i believe). New they run $150-200 and you can find them used for significantly less. Couldn't be happier with it. If you want bells & whistles, however, go with a digital meter. As for those, the Spectra Cine is quite sweet - if wanted a digital meter, that'd be the one.

Good luck.

Generally, DP's use the Spectra AND the Pentax spot meter.

I have used the Minolta IV for forever and it's never let me down. I have a 10 degree spot attachment for it that has worked quite well also.

I have a friend who owns the newer (not the latest) Sekonic and he's had issues with it being consistent.
