I totally agree!!!!! I hate my lens cap too, I'm ready to throw the piece of poo in the trash where it belongs. I'm sure I'd be less aggrivated without it and I'd be happy to fork out the money for a new UV filter now and then.....anything to avoid spending 5 minutes putting the thing on. I think I might lose it soon since I don't have it attached with the little string thing onto my grip.....what's that about anyway, it just get's in the shot at the worst possible moment.

Of course, it might be more useful as a coaster.

i got the screw-on cap that i ordered on Ebay today.......
it's the bomb!!!

it's ALL about the screw-on cap, works perfectly!!!

<grin>

AH, my bad....

Must have been a 3 in the morning type post....

dxr was a mistype <oops> but my DVX lenscap pops off a bit too often, and its unpredictable behavior had left my lens ( or UV filter) exposed!
The screw-on cap insures you r lens is protected 24/7.
(especially in transit or run-and-gun situations)

Hope the clarity helped!

This thread freaked me out. I have NO IDEA where my lens cap is! I haven't used one in THREE YEARS!

I put on a B+W uv/antiglare/sky filter with multi-coating on both sides... and that was the end of it. I clean that thing a couple times a month even though it rarely needs it anyway. When I'm not using my cam it stays in a PortaBrace case... but I'd recommend Petrol from now on.

So anyway... yes the lenscap can be annoying... you can get a really simple one from any camera shop that works better for $10... or you can spend a couple bucks for a protective filter and FORGET about the lenscap!

Protective filter is a must (but it makes it even harder to uset the DVX lens cap).

I still like to have my cap on when I'm moving the camera around.

Nikon lens caps will work on a DVX according to one of the posts I read some time back. They are a lot cheaper. Maybe you can buy one from BHphoto that has a strap that attaches with velcro.
