best jib package for $1000

i dont know whether is question is stupid or not but..

how do you pull focus when the camera is like 10 feetaway from you? just wondering.

On the DVX, you don't. You just have to trust that screamingly fast DVX AF with your jib shots. What the...?

I'd throw in the EZFX with Varizoom remote head. Not a bad system for $5k.

I have a 8ft Kessler Crane her in LA. I only used it on one shoot a few months ago. If anyone wants it I will sell it at a good price. Send me a private message.

i see haha.

anndd...how do you guys manage to focus, zoom, and manuveur your tripod all at the same time?. ive seen on pictures that there are people who pull focus for you..but other than that what do you guys do? i guess zoom controller thing could work..but ive used the canon one at church and it wasnt so great.

thanks for answering my oh so ignorant questions haha .

The Kessler crane is the only crane for the money. I got mine in the 12 ft version for around 800 with the bag and fine weights. The thing is the most incredible peice of gear I own outside of my Arri kit. It is easy to use and built like a tank. I can't be happier with it and the guy that handles the transaction (Eric ?) was as great as they come. You can't go wrong and it beats the bejesus out of the cheaper ones (i.e. Promax etc.) BUY ONE NOW YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

I've used the Dykortech Advantajib-lite. It's brand new. Absolutely blows anything else away I've used or seen. Aluminum, lightweight, truely professional workmanship. Also, for the price, it includes an incredibly smooth pan/tilt (don't need a remote head) that you oporate at the base - this way you make it crane up or down while you have full control of your pan and tilt (if you can't control this, not much point in getting a jib).

Check it out: http://www.dykortech.com

Cheers,
Dale

the advanta jib is by far the best thing I've seen and used.

Fact is once you use it these other cranes seem useless.

Plus the guy who makes these things is a great dude.

WOW, that Advanta-Jib has come down in price, no?
Didn't that thing go for almost $4k not so long ago???
$1500 seems SWEET!!!

The lower price reflects the new/smaller jib (also extremely protable), the other one is still available. Both the same quality though - amazing. And Rook is right, the guy who makes them is a great dude!

@Nick_Lee -

You do all of those things by getting a camera crew to help you. People are nearly as important as things, you know.
