Best intermediate codec?

I have an 8 core machine. It plays AVCHD in real time inside my NLE. I still transcode to a better editing codec for my purposes.

Best of luck with your new-found success.
What program do you use for your Encoding? I need to encode .mov files before dropping them in Sony Vegas. I am planning on buying cineform. THanks

What tools do people use to convert footage to the Matrox drivers. I was simply going to use the Vegas batch export script but it doesn't appear to take on new export profiles, I also shoot footage in two modes: 1080p x 25fps and 720p x 50fps.

I'm guessing something like AviSynth is a good option but I'm hoping for something that is high quality, opensource, free, or cheap, and can have an easy way to optimise for the different formats (I want to keep the frame rates).

If there are no good options out there I will have to make a script I guess.

Perrone, what codec do you transcode to and what program do you use to transcode to work with Vegas?
Would you tell me, please .

Yes! I would like to know which tools people use? I'm having a very difficult time trying to find a tool that batch converts Panasonic GH2 .mts files into an intermediate codec. Vegas 8c does not save the profile for the Matrox intermediate codecs. I can configure it in the Render-as dialog for a higher bitrate for the Matrox MPEG-2 I-frame HD codec, but if i close the dialog and open it again, the bitrate is reset to 50Mb/sec. It won't keep the setting for the batch render script.
