Best Hosting Solution for Media?

I ran into Bandwidth problems!

What's a decent hosting solution for sites with a few quicktime files?
My new web portfolio is going to have about six 20 meg files on it for viewing...ideally, people will view all of them, and I was told by my former hosting provider that even Pow Web's 5GB a day will prove insufficient... (Pow Web is most likely my next move unless someone here shines some light)

OTHER than "right click to save"
I want to be NIFTY. Right click isn't NIFTY.

and as much as I love my ipod and my g5, i refuse to pay for .mac
so i'm a choosey beggar.

help a DVXuser out!
Peace!

Re: Best Hosting Solution for Media?

I had notes on this recently (heavy bandwidth). I found 2 places that had 1.8 terabyte and 2 terabyte bw allotted per month, trying to find it now...

Re: Best Hosting Solution for Media?

My laptop took a dive on me, once I get that back up I'll have the info. I tried to find it again and can't...

Re: Best Hosting Solution for Media?

I can recommend existhost.com but there service has gone down a few times without notice... i'm not sure why...

Re: Best Hosting Solution for Media?

My 1.8 and 2 TB plans were dedicated plans ($89.00+). However, "Hostway" has an 'unlimited' plan starting at $26.95 (Linux, 1.2GB drive).

Big disclaimers...

(*) I have never used these guys. They do rank in the top 10 at tophosts.com regularly however.

(*) "Unlimited" bandwidth plans will have a catch generally. I read the user agreements and couldn't read through the lines and find the catch so you may want to email them first and ask exactly what "unlimited" bandwidth means to them (file/media types allowed, etc)

Sorry it took so long.

Re: Best Hosting Solution for Media?

Damn. I'm only allotted 30 gb/month on mine. That's why there's nothing there except some music and such.

I'm considering slightly annoying visitors when I finally get around to having video content: put a few speedbumps in place. Some sort of registration (even if I don't actually ever do anything with the registration), perhaps. That'll keep it down some...only the ones who really want to see it will bother.

And it would certainly prevent spiders from grabbing naked links.

What an odd sentence.

Or may I'll just wow ifilm and let them worry about bandwidth. :D

Do ya gotsta register yer name elsewharz - would it be cheaper? If so, where would you recommend?

Oh, sure... I can surf the web with the best of 'em, but I don't know nuttin' 'bout nuttin' when it comes to hosting/building/designing a website.

Actually, I've had one of those cheesy Yahoo 1-page wonders for a couple of years, but I'd like to step up and be able to host media, etc. I would have someone else do the actual layout & design.

My "Inner McDermitt" yearns to be set free... ::)
